„2050 – Our Utopias“: A Creative Journey from Premiere to Creation
It was October 3, 2024, the moment everything had been leading up to. Radialsystem was sold out, the space was vibrating with energy and emotions. Young and old, we all stood together on the same wavelength, dreaming of a more just future and experiencing it – for a moment – as a tangible vision. The performance was more than just a piece of dance and music; it was a shared journey. An experience that deeply moved us all, where we felt connected – through art, the stage, and the utopias we shared.
But how did it all come together? How did an idea that started in a conversation in 2020 transform into a sold-out premiere and such an intense moment of shared vision?
It all began with a conversation between my partner and me. In 2020, we began thinking about the year 2050, imagining the world we wished for, the world we dreamed of. But then the pandemic hit and everything came to a standstill. Yet, while the world paused, our dream continued to grow. When the opportunity for funding came in 2024, it was the moment everything began to move forward again.
The journey was long: months of preparation, assembling the team, finding the right artists who were willing to join us on this journey. The creative process was anything but easy. Through sweat, doubts, and many setbacks, the piece began to take shape. From Theaterhaus Mitte to Ballhaus Ost – each step brought us closer to what would ultimately become a powerful reality at Radialsystem.
And then, on October 3, 2024, it finally happened: The premiere. Sold out, the atmosphere in Radialsystem electrifying. A moment of truth that made us forget all the months of hard work and intense creative effort. But it wasn't just the end result that mattered, it was the process: the experimenting, the failing, the growing. It was the dialogue between the dancers, musicians, and the audience that brought the piece to life.
After the premiere, the workshops at the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek followed. Here, the journey continued, and the dialogue continued to evolve. These workshops deepened the ideas, broadened the perspectives, and brought fresh, new thoughts that enriched the creative process further.
„2050 – Our Utopias“ was not just a performance – it was the expression of a shared dream, a creative process that invited us all to think about and shape a better future together.
