Buchvorstellung: Encounters – Embodied Practices

Welches Wissen benötigen wir, um die Welt anders zu denken und auf welche Weise können wir dieses Wissen erzeugen und weitergeben? Mit diesen und weiteren Fragen beschäftigt sich die Publikation „Encounters – Embodied Practices“.

The editors are the choreographers and curators Martha Hincapié Charry, Sandhya Daemgen and Raphael Moussa Hillebrand as well as the artistic director of the Radialsystem Matthias Mohr. The book is published by "Archive Books" in collaboration with the Radialsystem.

In the context of the numerous ethical and political challenges of the global present, actors from the Berlin and international dance and choreography scene will talk about forms of knowledge production beyond the prevailing conception of knowledge in Western modernity. The separation of body and mind and the idea of a universality of knowledge is countered here by a variety of possibilities of knowledge production that arise with and from the reality of differently situated bodies. "Encounters - Embodied Practices" is an invitation to think of togetherness as an embodied relationship - not least in order to develop strategies for overcoming social injustices.

What potential do body practices offer for emancipatory movements? How can they be used to create community and what responsibility is associated with this? What role does the body play in preserving and passing on knowledge? Lukas Avendaño, Wagner Carvalho, Sandhya Daemgen, Ismail Fayed, Alex Hennig, Raphael Moussa Hillebrand, Martha Hincapié Charry, Isabel Lewis, Matthias Mohr, Prince Ofori, Mother "Leo" Saint Laurent, Léna Szirmay-Kalos, Thiago Granato and July Weber reflect on these and other questions on the basis of their respective choreographic and curatorial practices.

"Encounters - Embodied Practices" is available via hive Books  or can be purchased in our ticket office.
